Plant Based Air-Purifier

Easy to see why it won the Popular Science, Best Invention Award. It does not collect pollutants rather actually eliminates pollution through the plant’s natural metabolic activity which performs a biochemical transformation of waste. Any house plant may be used in conjunction with the ANDREA Air Filter to absorb and metabolize noxious chemicals, but the best performing varieties include: Spath or peace lily, Red-edged dragon tree, Spider plant and Aloe Vera. Gotta love the power of nature.

Amazing Shadow Art

by Tim Noble and Sue Webster

Webster describes the work of the duo as ‘your worst nightmare of what art can be’. Certainly, the pair have little regard for convention, mining the aesthetics of the fairground tattoo and the Las Vegas light show, the shopping mall and the rubbish dump.

They joined forces in their university days at Nottingham Polytechnic and since then have continued to work together, sharing the same fascination with the media and advertising industries; and together have tried being poor, starving artists while Britart became increasingly hip. Noble and Webster utilise a number of different media to visually challenge the relations between the spectacular, the serious and the entertaining.

Cedric Delsaux, Star Wars in Dubai

The recent photo works of Cedric Delsaux, the final installment of his Dark Lens trilogy dealing with the fact and fiction of modern urban space, can be viewed as an attempt to approach this enigmatic, emblematic city, using cinematic futurism as a tool to get a grasp on the present. Cedric describes the feeling he had as if walking around in a gigantic set for a science fiction film: “I instantly knew that all the characters from the Star Wars galaxies would be at home here.” Seen through his Dark Lens, Dubai appears to be finally welcoming the guests it has been built for from the beginning.

Good Design that saves lives

When you live on $3 a day, living sustainable isn't an option, its a necessity. Through socially responsible design, architects and designers have the opportunity to make change. Even if its just a small step.

The Problem: More than a billion people lack easy access to clean drinking water, forcing them to carry water great distances.

The Solution: The Hippo Roller by Project H Design. A simple barrel of recycled materials, grooved for traction and designed to roll over rough terrain using a simple push handle. The Hippo Rollers sides taper up at the ends to minimize its contact with the ground, making it easier to roll. The top and bottom of the barrel are rounded so that the barrel can be tilted upright with less effort than a barrel with a flat bottom.

Such a simple solution. Such a great example of design that dramatically improves peoples lives by solving a very basic problem.

awesomeeeeee packaging/presentation!!!!!

philco PC retro desktop

schultzeworks design studio has reinvented the desktop. the outcome is 'philco PC' a retro-styled
personal computer which is influenced by the 1954 design classic philco predicta, mixed with a bit
of modernist minimalism.

lead designer dave schultze states:
'the result is a design aesthetic that blends multiple elements of the familiar, but with some
surprisingly fresh styling that just so happens to house a state-of-the-art windows 7 PC.'

COOL SHIT!!!!!

This is a video of an old Jeep Cherokee being used to make a song by combining all the different sounds it can make (trying to start, locking/unlocking doors, door ajar alarm, etc). It is highly impressive/unbelievable.

The sounds in this video are ACTUAL sounds from the Jeep. Everyone began rehearsing their parts 2 weeks before we shot the video. It took us 7 hours of filming to get a solid take. Enjoy!
The song starts off kind of slow but really picks up around 1:00, so go ahead and skip to there if you don't have much time. And, if you really don't, how about including me in the will?

Model Boat

Swedish artist Michael Johansson has made a life-size dinghy "model kit" from a real boat and related equipment, called TOYS'R'US. Boat and related equipment are joined together in a welded metal frame, and painted a uniform gray to resemble the surface of a model kit. "The real boat is transformed into a model of itself, and its original purpose has given way to something else. "

Insane Dollar Bill Oragami

If there is such a thing as a money master it's probably Won Park. As an origami artist, he transforms dollar bills into magical works of art. His life-like animals and objects are amazingly detailed. If you don't believe me, check out some of those eyes! It's just another great example of taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary!

Friends With You - Miami

Magical spiritual powers are not the only talents Miami-based art collaborative FriendsWithYou can claim as theirs. They also have a special skill for creating cuddly, cute and somewhat clever toys, events, experiences and other playthings for us mere mortals. We would never imply that their Fun Houses and other such entertainments are just for kids because if they were, we’d feel too envious to be nice.
