Neon Waterfall

Neon Waterfall” by Lauris Paulus.

Arch Daily Neal Creek Residence / Paul McKean Architecture

The Neal Creek residence treads lightly upon its surroundings, maximizing valley and water views with minimal impact to the natural environment. The owners - windsurfing and snowboarding enthusiasts - were interested in a modest weekend retreat that would be highly efficient and ecologically minded. Their wooded two-acre parcel of land presented many unique challenges including wetlands, creek protection setbacks, and floodplain restrictions.

Satoshi Minawaka

Dekochari is typical Japanese phenomenon, deko is short for decoration and chari is slang for bike. Dekochari are actually the kids version of dekotora, which are decorated trucks. Satoshi Minakawa made these photos of these awesome vehicles.

The house behind the wall / Peter Gabrijelcic

The new longitudinal house is conceived as a wall – a fence forming a secure atrium in the midst of the existing built environment. The house is turned outside in. It enables its residents intimacy, and at the same time it offers a compromise with the co-existence of the widely divergent structures in the same area. It resembles a nest, well- accommodated, protected and concealed, but at the same time benevolent to nature, openness and broadness of mind. The longitudinal wall, 40 metres long, has two functions. It marks the parcel boundary of the new house, sets its exterior margin - keeping out of sight the disorderly, inhabited side of the parcel - and at the same time, on the inside, accommodates a storage space running along its entire length. Between the cabinet/wall and the rest of the house there runs a corridor illuminated by natural light from a long skylight. Alongside the building, there is a range of functions, such as the entrance, kitchen, living room, bedrooms and workrooms. As if the architect had epitomized the perspective of the landscape and transferred it to an architectural drawing and idea.

4Life Pure Bathtub blends form with functionality

Displayed at ISH 2009 (world’s leading trade fair for bathrooms) held in Frankfurt, the “4Life Pure” by Kopie von Adolfr is a simple but at the same time stylish bathtub that will give a fresh look to your bathroom. Boasting a crystal white tub enclosed with sleek lines, the 4Life Pure bathtub comes with a wooden cover that apparently rolls (to one side) to become the headrest while sprawling in the tub. Apart from enhancing the décor of your space, with its innovative yet sleek design, the bathtub, when not in use, works as a storage space where you may place various bathroom accessories, blending form with functionality.

INSANE!!! Al Hakawati emblem of the Arabic world

Located in Zaabeel Park, Dubai, the Al Hakawati (the storyteller in Arabic) by Visiondivision is an iconic tall emblem structure designed for a competition named “Thyssenkrupp Elevator Award” that will recite historic anecdotes of the Arabic city and its people with animated body language. Featuring a number of spaces for performance and reading within, the statue also houses a children’s library at the base that includes a vast collection of books, telling the folklore of the Arabic world to the kids. Moreover, the Zaabeel Park will include small speakers in every corner of the park, which will let the visitors listen and enjoy the stories (or folktales) recited by the statue.

ILLEST SKATE SHOP PERIOD!!!!!!!

The Clients

Founded in Milan in 1994 by four skateboarders, Comvert S.r.l. conceives, produces and distributes clothing for skateboarders and snowboarders under the brand bastard and distributes the brand Electric in Italy.

Few years ago Comvert decided that it was about time for finding a new location to set up its new headquarter and gave studiometrico the opportunity to search for the right building and then, possibly, to refurbish it.

The ideal place had to be spacious enough to be able to host the administrative department, the design department, a flagship store, a storage facility, a wide access for the goods and a skate-bowl for bastard employees, friends and team riders.

Canned Oxygen: Fad On The Horizon

The canned oxygen freight train “fad express” is leaving the station with scheduled stops including celebrity hands and every health food store in America. Already touted by some as “the next bottled water”, this stuff is 89% pure and claims to relieve stress, headaches, jet lag, hangovers, and awkward sexual performance. However, if you don’t buy into the hype you can always enjoy it for flavors like “Mountain Mint” and “Polar Rush”. After all, they have to give you something to justify the $9.99-$134.99 price tag.

Someone needs to get me this!!!!!!

Rather than travel through space to retrieve the four elemental stones to save humanity, you just have to wait until these start shipping around September 2009. You also won’t have to go through the process of figuring out how to activate the stones since you have already seen the movie. However, finding the key fifth element is your own problem. But if you find a way to get Milla Jovovich to show up at your house then please share your secrets.

SWEET!!! LED Alarm Clock with Electronic Bird

This isn’t the first alarm clock I’ve seen with a bird sitting on top. It is however, the first one that could possibly be defined as chic and stylish. The pretty bright white makes it so that although the bird sitting on top is a little whimsical, it would still fit within a home that conforms to most adult standards. Not only that but you’d have the joy of waking up every morning to the sound of a chirping bird instead of that obnoxious beep.

Of course, I think I’d just stuff a pillow over my head thinking it was coming from outside, on mornings that I was more tired than usual. If you’re not that hard to wake up though, it shouldn’t be difficult to comprehend that it’s an electronic bird that is chirping on your nightstand. There aren’t a lot of details on the clock, but it does of course utilize LED lights for the clock part. Then they also mention that the bird does move, but no word on how it does that. You can pick up the bird for £20.00 or about $30 from Habitat.

Kinda reminds me of Billie Jean video....

The Finnish company Character launched out in the daring bet to give again life with the luminous letters of the stores. It transforms them by installing a new source LED. Very beautiful returned decoration of interior.
To note the lifespan of almost 30.000 hours according to Character.

Art Student Paints Car To Be Invisible

University of Lancashire art student Sara Watson painted an old Skoda Fabia to appear invisible when looked at from just the right angle. This happens to be the right angle. If you were standing next to it it would just look like a spraypainted piece of shit.

Guy Make Fully Functional Wolverine Claws

Not to be outdone by the Tomahawk Skull Gauntlet, some guy went and made his own fully functional Wolverine claws out of a bunch of copper tubing and sharp metal. They're surprisingly impressive and make pretty short work out of a cardboard box. Which, I think we can all agree, is humanity's real enemy. *SNIKT* Die, tree-zombie!

Trent Reznor Vs. Apple

Future-thinking, technology-embracing Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor--who left Interscope Records in 2007 and now independently releases music using technologies like BitTorrent--recently further delved into the digital age by creating a new, GPS-enabled iPhone app that allows fans to interact with each other at concerts in real time. It's a pretty cool tool for NIN diehards, sort of like a NIN-specialized Twitter.

But the new update of the NIN app seems to have downward-spiraled, so to speak, as it has been rejected by Apple due to "obscene, pornographic, offensive, or defamatory content."

Trent just posted this bummer news on Twitter, saying: "Apple rejects the NIN iPhone update because it contains objectionable content. The objectionable content referenced is [the NIN album] The Downward Spiral."

Trent also discussed the controversy on the Nine Inch Nails website, likening the situation to one NIN dealt with previously:

"I'll voice the same issue I had with Wal-Mart years ago, which is a matter of consistency and hypocrisy. Wal-Mart went on a rampage years ago insisting all music they carry be censored of all profanity and 'clean' versions be made for them to carry. Bands (including Nirvana) tripped over themselves editing out words, changing album art, etc to meet Wal-Mart's standards of decency--because Wal-Mart sells a lot of records. NIN refused, and you'll notice a pretty empty NIN section at any Wal-Mart. My reasoning was this: I can understand if you want the moral posturing of not having any "indecent" material for sale--but you could literally turn around 180 degrees from where the NIN record would be and purchase the film 'Scarface' completely uncensored, or buy a copy of Grand Theft Auto where you can be rewarded for beating up prostitutes. How does that make sense?"

Seems like the iPhone has become a pretty hate machine for Trent.

Viva Vinyl Vendors!

Vinyl has real staying power, that’s obvious. I was still stoked, though, to see an innovative take on vinyl accessories pop up in Mexico, on the sidewalk in a street fair. Besides the basic (yet cool and functional) vinyl bags, this Mexican market still features non-typical crafts - like a fake stuff lama, monster toys and furry sneakers. Not just your regular farmer’s market!

HyperMac Battery Gives MacBooks 32 Hour Boost

A battery that provides 32 hours of continuous MacBook use? Now we're talkin'. Sound's great until you find out that the 222Wh Hypermac external charger costs a whopping $500.

Crash Modern Bookshelf / Room Divider from Rainer Mutsch

Here is another cool furniture find from designer Rainer Mutsch of Austria. His modern bookshelf or room divider called "Crash" has a very informal look as if the parts crashed together to create a myriad of different shaped storage spaces. This visually striking storage shelf may also be floated off the wall as a room divider and assembles with a series of interlocking panels without any hard ward.

“Sometimes It Snows In April” by David Foster Nass, he definitely didn’t take this photo this year.

NOWHERE “Sixteen Chicks” T-shirt

Having original plied his trade with Jun Takahashi and their NOWHERE retail venture in Harajuku, Nigo’s recent stepping down from A Bathing Ape as president has freed up some time for other projects including a re-visitiation of NOWHERE. NOWHERE itself was the subject of a special pop-up store at DOVER STREET MARKET while another store is also rumoured to re-open in Japan, which will return to the store’s roots of small, limited runs and apparently opening only on select days. NIGO (R) is seen here taking part in the hand-screening of a commemorative 16th anniversary t-shirt titled “sixteen chicks” which will release on May 5th at BAPEXCLUSIVE stores.

OK last iPhone app of the day, its crazzzzyyyyy

Spinning vinyl ipod app from Theodore Watson on Vimeo.

This iPod app is insane - it’s the kind of program you’d show off at work, in a bar and to your grandma. And everyone would think it is too cool for words. You put on a song and play with it by literally playing with your iPod touch or phone. This app uses the accelerometer of the iPod to control the speed of a vinyl record on the screen. Slowing down the record and speeding it up depends on how fast you spin it on a surface.

iPhone app for nose candy fiends

iSnort is a bootleg iPhone app that makes it appear as though you're cutting up coke and snorting it. Unfortunately, it's not even a real app. It's just a video that you have to choreograph your movements to (the iPhone's touchscreen doesn't respond to heavily abused credit cards or rolled up bills). That said, you can pick it up for £5 at their website. Or, put that money towards some real nose candy. Yeah, I'm talking that good shit. Model airplane glue.

iShower

hmmm interestingly enough they forgot the iJerkoff........
