Married To The MOB Summer 2009 Collection

The girls from Married To The MOB present their new Summer 2009 Collection. The line continues to expand and get bigger, and is close to becoming a full collection. Their t-shirts still stick out the most, and their slogans are still among the best in the womens market. The lookbook was shot this season by David “Shadi” Perez and came out really nice, just like we are used to see from the brand.

Broken Arm Chair

The Broken Arm Chair by George Dubinsky is definitely one of the funniest design objects I’ve seen in a while.

13,500 Pages Of Data Etched On A 3" Disk

The Rosetta Disk is a 3" nickel disk that has been etched with over 13,500 pages of information on how to read and understand the world's languages in case aliens get tired of sticking things up our butts and want to get their learn on. It represents over 1,500 languages and requires a 500x microscope to read a single page. You hear that, aliens -- don't forget your microscopes (read: leave the probes at home).

Ford 021c, ten Years ago Concept Car

The Ford's 021c Concept Car was unveiled ten years ago! When the car was unveiled, consumers weren't ready for this concept, it was almost universally despised. But back to now, I'm sure you will like it. It's built from carbon fibre, it has some interesting features like the rear doors are hinged at the back that four wide opening doors for easy entrance and egress. The trunk functioned as a pull out drawer instead of a lift up lid.

Nike SB Dunk Keychains

It’s a little weird if you get one of these and don’t have the actual sneaker to back it up but as keychains go, they are way better than your average. Designed by Dope Factory, there’s a mini version of the “Bearbrick” Dunk, Danny Supa Dunk, “Hawaii” Dunk, “Tiffany” Dunk, “Heineken” Dunk, Stussy Dunk, “Supreme” Dunk, Zoo York Dunk, and the “Paris” Dunk. You can get one free if you order over 100 euros worth of stuff, nice eh? Check them all out after the jump.

Shipley & Halmos Raincoat

We keep on almost tiring of the double breasted look on coats - but luckily, they keep on making good ones. Not to harp on at ASOS again, but why isn’t Shipley & Halmos in their designer section? If D&G can get into the designer section, then so should Shipley & Halmos. ASOS’s poor decision making aside, this is a great coat for the summer. Obviously the yellow isn’t for everyone, but you can pull it off you’ll be the biggest boss we’ve seen thus far.

Gundam Construction Starts On 59-Foot Statue

In 1979, director Yoshiyuki Tomino (由悠季 富野) and production company SUNRISE captured the imagination of countless fans around with the introduction of Amuro Ray and his mechanized Mobile Suit Gundam. Unlike most of its predecessors, it wasn’t just another anime about a boy and his giant robot. Amuro Ray brought realism to the animated series with his adolescent angst, the guilt of taking lives, and teenage crush, amidst a galactic war between Zeon Empire and Earth Federation.

This year, SUNRISE and BANDAI NAMCO will curate a summer-long festival for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise’s 30th anniversary, which include a life-size mock-up of Gundam. Measuring at 59-foot in height, the giant figurine will feature active light signals and limited animatronic functions. The statue is now a work in progress at Shiokaze Park (潮風公園) in Odaiba (台場), Tokyo, with the unveiling date set on July 11th. It will also usher in a special Gundam Big Expo starting on August 21st.

Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics / Morphosis Architects

Since the construction of the Palomar Observatory in 1948, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) has continuously pioneered new ways of observing and explaining the heavens. Caltech scientists and engineers have deployed ever-changing telescopes on satellites, rockets, and balloons, and with these have made fundamental discoveries leading to new theoretical models. Paramount discoveries that have come out of Caltech include the cosmological nature of distant quasars, gamma-ray bursts, and brown dwarfs. In 2007 alone, Caltech astronomers found the largest object orbiting the sun since the discovery of Pluto in 1930, as well as the most distant galaxy in the universe. Yet, over the decades, the various specialists dispersed across the Caltech campus. The Cahill Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics brings together a dozen different groups with vastly different cultures, focuses, and scopes into a single structure designed to facilitate collaboration and spontaneous discourse.

Cool Vending Machines

japanese vending machines

smart car

while it may look like this vending machine is selling smart cars, it actually dispenses brochures about
the car. the machine was the idea of a smart car dealer in shibuya, japan. the machine gives customers the
option of a coupe or cabrio smart car and states the car’s actual value, but it doesn’t accept money.
perhaps in the future these machines will actually sell cars, but for know it remains a marketing concept.

fresh pizza

this vending machine is a pizzeria in a box. ‘the wonder pizza’ cooks 9 inch pizzas in a mere 2 minutes
each. users can select their desired crispness and pick from 3 different flavours. the machine isn’t as simple
as you might think. it is reported to have taken over 5 years to develop at a cost of over 6 million USD.
each machine can hold around 100 pizza and uses real ovens not microwaves to cook the pizza.

lobster and eggs

freshness is key for vending machines selling food goods. however these machines take this a little too far, offering live lobsters and fresh eggs respectively. both spotted in japan, these machines are not something you will find in your office break room. the lobster machine is also an arcade game because it requires users to pick their lobster up using a joystick-controlled claw.

Mind Control Game coming this fall!!!!!

Mattel's much anticipated Mindflex game is allegedly dropping this October for $100. For those of you who think like I do, that's 3 lapdances at a reasonable strip club, or almost 12 at the ones I go to.

It's not often that a Mattel toy targets the 18 - 128 demographic, but we'll be frank -- the Mindflex has us all sorts of intrigued. Originally introduced at this year's CES, said game is a brain-powered fun-fest that relies on intense mental activity to control the height of a ball suspended in a column of air.

It sounds similar to that Star Wars toy coming out, but way more involved. I want one. And not just because I've been honing by ball controlling mind skills for years but *concentrating* did you see that? Look again. Now the left one's lower!

Nice to haves........

HOUSE POZUELO MADRID

The house is located in a 1-hectare site of fairly rectangular shape. Developed along the Eastern margin of the site, which runs adjacent to the road, it is structured around two axes cutting in an oblique angle.

The first axis, following the North-South direction, organizes the rooms in the house around a series of intersecting volumes that give rise to the different inside and outside spaces.

The second axis, materialized in a pergola or beam running in East-West direction, determines the relation between the building and the spaces surrounding the house.

The neatness of the design is enhanced with the clean choice of finishes.

Crazy design, Inhalt

Inhalt is the multicellular caravan by Mehrzelle.
"Using the online Configurator, every user sets up a design that is unique, their own layout that they can identify with. The configuration is generated by a computer using the customers inputs, and then the final design is done by parameters from the architects to yield an attractive and practicable result. The caravans are produced using the principles of mass customization: this allows both the individual wishes of the customer to be accommodated while producing the caravan with series methods. "

House N / 3LHD

Pantovčak, one of Zagreb’s most prestigious streets, which rests below the gaze of Sljeme, has been lined with freestanding family houses for decades. With its sculpted gardens and comfortable spaces between buildings, it exudes all of the admirable qualities of a pleasantly livable urban residential drive.

House N is situated in a quieter secondary neighborhood on this street, perched in the western hills and boasting a delightful panoramic view of the forest and the city.

Access to the landscape from the southern side, including a relatively narrow steeply sloping and elongated plot, was the key element that defined the position and layout of the house. Originally there was a substandard house on the plot. It did not satisfy the needs of the client and thus had to be replaced.
