Chloë Sevigny x Marc Jacobs “Protect the Skin You’re In” T-Shirt

Marc Jacobs is reissuing some of his “Protect the Skin You’re In” campaign tees, in which notable celebrities and fashion icons pose nude. Pictured is Actress/Designer Chloë Sevigny, who joins fellow celebrities Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Dita Von Teese, Doutzen Kroes and Erin Wasson, who all pose nude on one of Jacobs’ tees. The proceeds from all sales of the campaign tees are to be donated to the NYU Cancer Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center. The tees are available from Marc by Marc Jacobs stores at $35.

This is the Maserati Boomerang, a concept car from 1971. I don’t believe that current concept cars will look that fresh in 40 years. The Boomerang is a beast, just look at the wheels.

Not Dangerous Enough: Jet Powered Carousel

Whenever I think "jet-powered" I think of rocketpacks and blasting off to the moon with a bubble helmet on and then playing hide-and-seek amongst the craters. Secondly, I think of danger and how much fun it is almost dying but then escaping death at the last second and flipping the grim reaper the bird right when he's reaching for you with his scythe. Yeah, I do that all the time. But one thing I don't do all the time (or ever for that matter) is ride a rocket-powered merry-go-round. It just looks too tame. Admittedly, the carousel's shoddy construction did look promising in the beginning, but in the end it's just two guys who might have well taped bottle rockets to their backs. I WANTED TO SEE ONE OF THOSE BITCHES LAUNCHED INTO ORBIT! Or at least a tree. Hurt video needs more hurt.

McDomination

This is a graphic representation of all the McDonalds restaurants in the United States. As you might be able to tell, there are a lot of them. Some might even say a McMillion. But they'd be wrong, because there's only 13,000.

This map is the brainchild of Stephen Von Worley, who got to thinking about the strip malls sprawling out along I-5 in California's ever less rural Central Valley: "Just how far can you get from generic convenience? And how would you figure that out?"


There are over 13,000 McDonald's restaurants in the US, or about 1 for every 23,000 Americans. But even market penetration this advanced doesn't mean that McDonald's is everywhere. Somewhere in South Dakota is the McFarthest Spot, the place in the US geographically most removed from the nearest McD's (*). If you started out from this location, a few miles north of State Highway 20 (which runs latitudinally between Highways 73 in the west and 65 in the east), you'd have to drive 145 miles to get your Big Mac (if you could fly, however, it'd be only 107 miles).

So you think the folks in Bumfack, South Dakota, are any skinnier than the rest of the population? Because I bet not. And no, this isn't me endorsing fast food. But one time I did find two onion rings in my fries at Burger King. Yeah, so who's the real king now? Gimme that crown, bitch!

Studio O+A transformed an old lab facility into the new Facebook Headquarters, the restored complex now becomes a lab for measuring the intangibles of creativity and social interaction.

The design employs color, partitions and strategic spatial mapping to the neighborhoods that make up Facebook’s city of workers. Meeting areas serve the function of a city’s public square.

models as well as customized builds. just like a dolphin, the seabreacher can jump dive and roll
through the water at speeds of up to 40mph or 20mph underwater. the driver and a passenger are
kept dry inside a sealed cockpit, but are free to look around through the glass top. the boat took
over 10 years to develop and is now easy enough to drive and maintain for the average person.
the design retails for around 48,000 USD and comes with a number of options such as additional
view ports and custom upholstery.

Paper Player

Did you catch the latest Project Runway paper challenge? Making a paper plane is challenging enough, so paper couture dresses or this paper record player are truly pieces of art. This fully-functional manual record player from Simon Elvins is 100% paper, and to play the record the handle needs to be turned in a clockwise direction at a steady 331/3rpm. The paper cone then acts as a pickup, amplifying the sound enough to make it audible. It looks mighty dainty, but the concept is definitely strong.
